
Clear will demonstrate its 4G service in Chicago, showcasing WiMax inside an experimental Ford Flex at the 2010 Chicago Auto Show. Clear‘s customers expect download speeds of up to 10Mbps, with an average download speed of 3 to 6Mbps. The concept car has four touch screen displays and can access various applications through the internet. Manufacturers and consumers will see how the technology works and the possibilities of mobile internet in the future.
Clear launched services in Chicago in December 2009, giving customers the ability to purchase USB modems, embedded WiMax laptops and netbooks. Clearwire, the parent company of Clear, will look to cover up to 120 million more people by the end of 2010 by expanding to many major markets, including Houston, Washington D.C., New York, Boston and San Francisco. Sprint Nextel highlighted that they gave Clearwire 1.1 billion dollars last year for 4G wireless broadband internet build out.
