Mobile Citizen recently announced that its Technology Assistance Grant program will now take grant applications for non-profit organizations in Chicago and Philadelphia. Mobile Citizen provides mobile broadband to educational and nonprofit organizations.
“The demand for Mobile Citizen’s Technology Assistance Grant program in other markets has been significant, so we are delighted to now be adding these two new markets,” says Leslie Lord, Mobile Citizen’s Director of Mobile Broadband Services. “Starting today, Mobile Citizen will be able to offer an affordable solution to Chicago and Philadelphia non-profit organizations in looking for wireless access to the Internet, or a low cost broadband alternative to cable or DSL.”
The grant includes a reduced price from Mobile Citizen for WiMax services in these two markets. The cost will be $10 per month or $120 per year with a three month free extended service when organizations sign up for a year. Organizations will also be given a free subscription to NTEN, a non-profit technology network that provides news, information, and a support community. Mobile Citizen uses Clear WiMax service from Clearwire.
The deadline for applications is February 19, 2010. Grant details and a simple grant application form can be found at:
