
Globe president and CEO Ernest Cu spoke at the WiMax Analyst Event during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. He talked about Globe’s history of WiMax deployment in the Philippines, it being the first and largest mobile WiMax network in Southeast Asia. Globe offers WiMax in over 160 towns and cities in the Philippines.
Globe finished 2009 with over 715,000 users, growing revenue to P3.3 billion last year. Globe will upgrade its existing capacities, along with expanding coverage and signing up more customers for its 3G, DSL and WiMax services.
Globe began WiMax tests in 2005, beginning services in 2008. It was the first network in the 2.5 Ghz frequency broadband network in Southeast Asia.
