Mobily and Bridgewater Systems have partnered to manage smart networks, applications, and policies across Mobily’s WiMAX networks in the Middle East. Bridgewater will provide solution that authorizes subscribers and accounting functions.
“Mobily operates the largest and busiest mobile broadband network in the Middle East,” said Abdulaziz Al-Tamami, COO. Mobily said in the press conference at Barcelona – “We selected Bridgewater due to their unique ability to provide a highly scalable control plane solution that enables us to manage mobile data traffic growth and deliver new services across our HSPA, WiMAX ( News – Alert) and Wi-Fi networks.”
18 million subscribers chose Mobily as their mobile broadband internet provider. Bridgewater’s solution will give Mobily better security features and the ability to manage unforeseeable data growth as networks and subscriber bases grow. Mobily will be able to meter and monitor bandwidth for its subscribers, offering a pre-paid WiMAX service.
Operators are teaming with backhaul solution providers to prepare for an increase in subscriber bases during the first quarter of 2010. It’s a great sign for the osmosis of WiMAX from niche technology to mainstream.
