Palm, backed heavily by Sprint, will begin to improve their smart phone offerings after admitting that their Pixi and Pre haven’t lived up to expectations. With Sprint as their biggest cheerleader, many insiders believe Palm will roll out a WiMAX-enabled phone.
The official announcement might even come as early as this month, with Sprint holding a special event at International CTIA Wireless 2010 in Las Vegas.
A rumored WiMAX phone has been in the works from HTC for a few months now. Analysts think there is an opportunity for Palm to assert itself in the smart phone market, along with Sprint being able to sign up a new batch of WiMAX customers.
Dan Hesse, Sprint CEO, highlighted the benefits of WiMAX for the health care industry and announced that he would be a part of the latest ad campaign for Sprint’s 4G.
