Sprint and Telespree Communications unveiled Mobile Broadband on Demand. It’s wholesale prepaid data solution only for Sprint wholesale partners. The service will be sold through Telespree and can be purchased alone or packaged with other services.
It’s a plug in and play device that requires over the air activation that makes it easy for consumers. Sprint Wholesale partners may now offer mobile broadband services by the day, week, month or by megabyte. Purchase an acceptable data card, select the data plan and connect. Users can track usage with the data meter and can add to their balance when needed.
“This joint offering from Sprint and Telespree represents one of the most exciting prepaid mobile broadband opportunities today,” said Dan Dooley, president of Sprint Wholesale Solutions. “Now companies with strong brand presence and distribution can expand the appeal of mobile broadband with economical, pay-as-you-go plans as well as innovative bundle solutions designed to reach new markets and customers.”
Telespree will work with each Sprint partner to customize and design each service offering and integrate it into partner backend systems or provide full solution. Sprint and Telespree will showcase the device at CTIA Wireless 2010 in Las Vegas March 23-25. This announcement comes a report that Sprint will unveil the its first WiMAX phone at CTIA Wireless 2010. It looks like they’ll have a lot to offer.
The device keeps users connected to Sprint’s 3G data network. It’s not available for their 4G network yet. Some operators are working on a prepaid WiMAX service internationally first. Clearwire currently doesn’t offer a prepaid service, just a monthly service not based on usage.
