Sprint recently unveiled a new WiMax phone from HTC, the A9292, to be launched in 2010. It will be the second WiMax phone from HTC and will work on Google’s Android operating system.
Another item on the Sprint inventory list for the new year is the LG LS680, an Android-operated handset similar to the GW620 Eve. LG will also bring the LN510 to the market, a device that combines a touchscreen and a QWERTY keyboard that would be sold towards the texting/messaging consumer. The LN240, also a texting phone, will be offered by LG as well. Because it lacks EVDO support, it may be a cheaper option for consumers.
Another up and coming device from Sprint, The BlackBerry Tour 2 9650, will combine both Wi-Fi and the BlackBerry 5.0 operating system. Blackberry is also adding the Flip version of the Pearl to its stable of Sprint phones.
There will be some new phones for Nextel Push-to-Talk users in 2010 as well. The Motorola i1 is a full touchscreen Android 1.6 phone, with a 5MP camera onboard. Also in the works is a black version of the Clutch, the i680 and i890. While there is no current information on the i890, he i620 will be a strong phone with a 2 megapixel camera and flash.
Many companies are looking to get as many WiMax products out on the market as fast as possible. WiMax-enabled laptops and Smartphones are the innovative new WiMax offerings that will gain momentum and popularity in 2010.
