Sprint announced that it plans on providing 4G WiMAX to 120 million Americans by the end of the year. It plans on setting up networks in Los Angeles and Miami by the end of 2010.
Cincinnati, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Miami, Pittsburgh, Salt Lake City and St. Louis will all have WiMAX capabilities by the end of this year. These cities are added to Washington D.C., New York, Boston, Houston, Kansas City, San Francisco and Minneapolis as markets where WiMAX will be launched.
Sprint is the first major carrier that released 4G technology. Sprint’s line of 4G products include the Overdrive mobile hotspot and the USB Modem U301. Sprint will add many new devices for 2010, including WiMAX-embedded laptops, single-mode 4G data cards, and a 4G phone.
