Tatung Extending WiMAX With NEC Equipment

Tatung InfoComm has extended its WiMAX coverage using NEC Corporation equipment. Tatung became the first WiMAX provider in Taiwan in April 2009. Tatung offers commercial services in Kaohsiung County, Penghu island and now will be able to cover 80 percent of the Taiwanese population with Pingdong County and Hualien County.

“‘NEC is honored to have worked with Tatung towards the development of these commercial services. The launch of these services is an important first step in providing WiMAX technologies throughout Taiwan,” Tadashi Ugajin, general manager of international sales at NEC, said. “Looking forward, NEC and Tatung aim to drive the continued growth of WiMAX services and to reinforce our cooperative business.”
